What is Internet Relay Chat?

- Internet Relay Chat, or IRC, is a server to allow multiple chat rooms, and multiple users (1024 to be exact). Here you can chat with others, or make your own chat rooms. The servers run 24/7 and you don't need a browser, or slow Java to run the chat room.

How do i start chatting?

-First you need to download a chat client (program to connect you to the server). A very popular client is mIRC which is available for free at www.mirc.com . It's a small file just download it and install it. Once you download it, and install you it, run it. In the white status window type /server irc.x-plane.org and hit enter. You will automatically be connected to our chat server. If you haven't selected a nickname yet type /nick your nickname (for example /nick Michael) and hit enter. Then type /list and it will show you a list of all the chat rooms available. Once you have decided which chat room you want to go, type /join #name of chat (for example /join #x-plane) and hit enter. Then begin chatting! On the right you will see a list of people in the chat room. You can use colors, and other fun stuff...to find out how read everything in the help menu.
